For Employers
SSDC utilizes its over 25 years experience with Social Security
disability and Medicare programs to aid employers in reducing
their retiree medical plan costs and in lowering their
disability plan costs. By combining our customer’s needs and our
knowledge, we have developed two sets of products that maximize
results in each plan area. The packages are integrated to maximize
cross-plan and related pension and other plan savings.
Retiree Medical Saving Programs - Medicare Management Services
The OMNIBUS Budget Reconciliation Act (OBRA) of 1993
created a provision to allow group health plans to take a
secondary position to Medicare under certain conditions.
When an individual is identified who requires an updated
Medicare primary payer status (generally in a retiree health plan),
on average, an employer will save $8,000 in future annual medical
plan costs. Retroactive savings can also be achieved through recovering
medical payments that were made incorrectly under the employer’s medical
plan. SSDC specializes in finding and developing these savings opportunities
in the most efficient, cost-effective and beneficiary sensitive fashion.
SSDC offers a unique package of proactive Medicare management
services that leverage technology, experience and customer
service to reduce an employer’s retiree medical expenses while
supporting individual retiree’s benefits. We work in partnership
with employers, Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services and the
Social Security Administration to identify under age 65 retirees and
dependents who already are or can be eligible for Medicare.
